what will be the equivalent LED for 15 watt CFL lamp and how much energy will it consume?
You need to look at data sheets for particular LEDs if you wish to design your own lamps. However the efficiency of those being marketed (rather than demonstrated) is not all that different from CFL lamps, so you need about 15W of LEDs. The Cree and Luxeon brands have 1W to 5W models. The common 5mm plastic type in white are more like 0.1W each, so about 150 are needed. Whichever type you use, you will have to add extra power for the ballast or electronics, which depends on what configuration, supply voltage and design.
It is also important to take serious note of the temperature rise. The high power types need proper heat sinks, which may not be immediately evident from the data sheets, and the 5mm type also get too hot when many are bunched together. It makes sense to buy ready made “bulbs” or “strips” for connection to the electrical AC supply. These combine all the LEDs and components into a single unit that plugs into a conventional light socket. You will find these on the internet. Search for “230V LED lamp bayonet or edison” for example. Probably the LED PAR types are more suitable. Currently CFLs are cheaper and much more readily available. There are 12V versions available.
