Denon AVR 1910 Review
The ability to upscale analog video has really become standard on midrange receivers such as the Denon AVR-1910 but rarely is it done in a quality fashion and is usually just comes off as a feature they knew they had to have on it to compete so they slapped it in real quick. This model doesn’t fit into that category. It has one of the best upconverted image qualities that we’ve seen in a midrange receiver. A few of the key features we found on this receiver were the great midrange AV receiver feature set that has a whopping four HDMI inputs. This is great and is usually only found on the higher end receivers but more and more mid range items are coming with high end features. Another nice feature that comes with it is the ability to plug Sirius radio right in to enjoy all your favorite stations through your entertainment system. The ability to plug in an iPod dock comes standard as well, but of course the iPod dock is sold separately! This seems to have become the norm among anything that has iPod capability. We can’t judge though, not everyone has an iPod.
Although home theater receivers tend to have more features than we are able to go through thoroughly we’d like to list off a few of the features that may catch your attention. Coming standard on the Denon AVR 1910 is True 24-bit/96-kHz Digital Input Capability, (4) Assignable Digital Inputs, (2) Digital Inputs: Coaxial, (2) Digital Inputs: Optical, (1) Digital Outputs: Optical, (8) Analog Audio Inputs, Incl. Tuner, Front Panel A/V Inputs w/Cover * Composite and S-Video, (2) Analog Record Outputs, Video Conversion – Composite to S-Video to Composite, Video Conversion – Analog to HDMI, (4) Composite Video Inputs, (2) Composite Video Outputs, 8-Ch. External Analog Input, 56 Station Auto-Preset Memory Tuning, and on and on and on. These are about half the features but there may be something you like in there, to check out the full list of features visit their website at http://usa.denon.com.
The style of the receiver is fairly clean and we liked it, over some of the more rugged Onkyo receivers that just didn’t fit in with modern styles. The power buttons are illuminated with a green ring allowing for an easy time finding in the dark, maybe when you need it the most. The channel selection and volume knobs are large and separated to each side of the receiver which seems logical. They also know that some of us can’t seem to find the Remote Control to save our lives so they included a directional pad on the front of the receiver just in case we never find it.
Overall we found this to be a solid mid range home theater receiver. If you’re looking for something that has enough features to get the job done without paying for high end features you may not even use this will do the job for you. This thing will definitely put some power to the speakers.
