Sink Screw Nut
Sink Screw Nut

How can I remove this nut?
I’m trying to replace my kitchen sink. The faucet is connected to the supply tubes through a male threaded pipe. At the top of the pipe is a nut with three “mickey mouse ear” type outcroppings for screws. The nut is stuck on the pipe too strong for fingers to spin it. Is there a tool, or could someone recommend how I could remove this nut?
The nut is circular except for the outcroppings, which are rounded. This prevents the use of pliers. When the faucet is spun, both the male pipe and the nut spin with it (when there are no screws in the nut). When there are screws in the nut, the faucet only turns as much as it is supposed to.
The supply tubes, Are the flex tubing? Do they attach in the sink cabinet to the permanent line closer to the cabinet base?
Without a picture or some other detail, I might pull the sink to access the hardware.
I’m trying to imagine the scenario. Main plumbing lines, even PVC are/ should be apparent somewhere in a sink cabinet with fittings, that also includes a “faucet”/ Knob to turn off the water. Those are almost always very accessible.
You’re replacing the sink anyway, I would detach the flex line fittings at the main/ hard line source and pull the whole thing, then work on the faucet removal issue.
