Will it shorten the life of a hard drive to be turned on and off in power save mode?
The computer is used during the day and at night, however but to try and save on power w/o turning the computer completely off. However will it shorten the life of a Hard drive to be turned on and off multiple times within a 24 hour period?
No, it’ll almost assuredly length it significantly – since hard drives are primarily mechanical and all mechanical devices receive wear in direct proportion to their “up time”.
