How to wire a dim lamp?
Have a small cabinet that I want to install a light into when it opens. I’m sure I could get it together, switch, mounting, but I don’t know about the actual light. I want to plug it in to the wall but I don’t want a bright Lamp Bulb. I was thinking a few LED’s or just anything not too intense that I can diffuse for an even, lighting. What kind of light light should I use, and how do I adjust the voltage, amperage for it? Even a push in the right direction would help, I plan on researching it a lot before I put it together. I just don’t know where to start.
You can get either individual or sets of three or five small wattage led “puck” lights at your local home center like Lowe’s or Home Depot. You can also use a regular light socket but they take up more space and use more energy. I’ve installed them under cabinets with a dimmer to adjust the brightness. I also have cabinets with small incandescent bulbs and a dimmer. They are simple to install and plug into any outlet.
If you want the light to go on when you open the door you will need to add a cabinet door switch. The home center may have that as well or check Radio Shack or a lighting specialty store. Searching online saves a lot of travel time and gas.
